Managing Global Settings

Learn how to manage settings across multiple sites, apply changes in bulk, lock settings to maintain consistency, and configure a default site for new locations.

Overview

Organisation Settings allows Global Admins to manage configuration across every site from a single place.

Instead of configuring each site individually, you can make changes once, apply them to multiple locations, and optionally lock those settings to prevent site administrators from making local changes.

You can also nominate a Default Site, which acts as the template for newly created locations.

Before You Begin

To manage Organisation Settings you must have Global Admin permissions.

From this area you can:

  • Configure settings for individual sites

  • Apply settings to multiple sites

  • Lock settings for site administrators

  • Set a default configuration for new sites

Choosing a Site to Manage

Before editing any settings, you’ll first need to select the site you’d like to configure.

Click Switch beside the site name and choose the location whose settings you want to edit.

Note: This only selects which site’s settings you’re editing. It does not change settings on any other sites until you choose to apply them.

Setting a Default Site

One site can be marked as the Default Site.

Rather than changing which site opens first, the Default Site acts as the template for any new sites added to your organisation.

When a new site is created, its initial configuration is copied from the Default Site, helping keep branding and settings consistent from day one.

Only one site can be designated as the Default Site at any time.

Editing Site Settings

Once you’ve selected a site, you can configure its settings as normal.

Depending on the section you’re working in, this may include areas such as:

  • Features

  • QR Codes

  • Automation

  • Branding

  • Default Emails

  • RFID Tags

  • Staff

  • Residents

  • Printer settings

After making your changes, click Save.

Applying Settings to Multiple Sites

After saving your changes, Custr will ask whether you’d like to apply those changes to other sites.

Selecting Yes opens the Apply Settings window.

From here you can:

  • Choose which sections to copy

  • Select which sites should receive the changes

  • Optionally lock those settings after they’re copied

By default, all sites are selected, although you can untick any locations that shouldn’t receive the update.

When you’re ready, click Copy To Sites.

Copying Individual Setting Groups

Only the sections you select will be copied.

For example:

  • Copying Features updates only Feature settings.

  • QR and Automation settings remain unchanged unless selected.

Some areas, such as Branding, are even more granular.

If you’ve only updated your organisation logo, you can copy just that branding element without replacing every branding setting across your other sites.

This allows you to update exactly what you need without affecting unrelated settings.

Locking Site Settings

When applying settings, you can enable Lock settings for these sites.

Locking settings prevents site-level administrators from changing those configuration options.

Instead, those settings become centrally managed by your Global Admins.

Global Admins can still:

  • Edit locked settings

  • Apply further changes

  • Update or remove locks whenever required

At site level, locked settings appear unavailable, making it clear they are being managed centrally.

This is ideal for organisations that want to maintain consistent branding, automation rules, and configuration across every location.

Best Practice

For organisations managing multiple sites, we recommend:

  1. Configure one site as your master configuration.

  2. Set it as the Default Site.

  3. Apply the required settings to your existing locations.

  4. Lock settings where appropriate to maintain consistency.

This approach reduces administration and ensures every site follows the same configuration standards.
