Contactless Visitor & Staff Check-in

Allow visitors to check in and out using their own mobile device and QR codes.

Overview

Custr Contactless Check-In allows visitors to complete the check-in process using their own mobile device instead of interacting directly with the iPad.

This provides a fast, secure, and contactless check-in experience.

Custr supports two types of contactless check-in:

  • Dynamic QR codes displayed on the iPad

  • Static QR code posters which can be printed and displayed around your site

Both methods allow visitors to complete the same check-in experience normally available on the iPad.

How Contactless Check-In Works

The contactless check-in process differs slightly for visitors and staff.

Visitors

Visitors scan the QR code using their phone camera.

This opens a secure webpage where they can complete the check-in or check-out process on their own device.

Staff

Staff can use the QR scanner built into the Custr Companion App to check in and out quickly.

This allows for a faster and more streamlined staff experience.

For employee QR codes, see: Staff QR Codes

Dynamic QR Codes (Displayed on the iPad)

Dynamic QR codes are shown directly on the iPad screen.

These QR codes automatically refresh every 30 seconds for additional security.

Visitors can scan the QR code displayed on the iPad using their mobile device camera to begin the check-in process.

How to Enable Dynamic QR Codes

To enable Dynamic QR codes, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Configuration > Devices

  2. Select QRs

  3. Enable Dynamic QR

Once enabled, the QR code will appear on the iPad check-in screen.

QR Code Posters (Static QR Codes)

QR code posters allow you to place contactless check-in points around your building without requiring visitors to interact with the iPad directly.

Unlike Dynamic QR codes, poster QR codes remain permanently the same and do not refresh.

These are commonly used:

  • At entrances

  • Reception areas

  • Remote buildings

  • Staff entrances

  • Event locations
