This article answers the most frequently asked questions about MIS Integration.

Synchronisation

How often does Custr synchronise with my MIS?

Custr automatically synchronises with your MIS overnight.

During synchronisation, Custr can:

  • Import new students and employees

  • Update existing student and employee records

  • Synchronise changes such as names, classes and teachers

If you need changes immediately, you can perform a manual import at any time from the Import page.


Can I manually synchronise my MIS?

Yes.

To manually synchronise your MIS:

  1. Navigate to Import

  2. Select API

  3. Select your MIS (Wonde/Arbor)

  4. Click Connect

  5. Review the records to be synchronised

  6. Click Import

This will import any selected students, employees, attendance reasons and other supported data immediately.


Why hasn’t my change appeared yet?

If a recent change has not appeared within Custr:

  • Check the change has been made in your MIS.

  • Remember that synchronisation runs overnight.

  • Perform a manual import if you need the update immediately.

  • Check the record is enabled for synchronisation (green).

Importing Students & Employees

How do I check if a new student or employee has imported?

To verify whether a new record has been imported:

  1. Navigate to Import

  2. Select API

  3. Select your MIS (Wonde/Arbor)

  4. Click Connect

Search for the student or employee.

  • Green records are included in synchronisation.

  • Red records are excluded from synchronisation.

If the record is shown and enabled (green), click Import to synchronise it immediately.


Why are former students or employees still appearing?

If students or employees who have left your organisation are still appearing within Custr, first check that they have been correctly marked as inactive within your MIS.

For students, a manual Refresh Students is required to:

  • Remove leavers

  • Add new starters

  • Update names and classes

  • Realign class information

For employees, verify that they are no longer active within your MIS and perform a manual import if required.

Please note:

Employees previously imported into Custr should be archived if they no longer work at your organisation.


How do I stop a specific student or employee from synchronising?

If you do not want an individual student or employee to be synchronised from your MIS:

  1. Navigate to Import

  2. Select API

  3. Select your MIS (Wonde/Arbor)

  4. Click Connect

For employees:

  • Select the required employee.

For students:

  • Open the Students tab.

  • Select the required student.

Click the record so it changes from:

  • 🟢 Green — Included in synchronisation

  • 🔴 Red — Excluded from synchronisation

Click Import to save your changes.


Can I manage employees manually instead of synchronising them?

Yes.

If you prefer to manage your employee directory manually:

  1. Navigate to Import

  2. Select API

  3. Select your MIS (Wonde/Arbor)

  4. Click Connect

  5. Change the employees you do not wish to synchronise from Green to Red

  6. Click Import

Once synchronisation has been disabled, you can manage employee records directly within Custr.


Refreshing Student Data

What does Refresh Students do?

The Refresh Students option rebuilds your student directory from your MIS.

It will:

  • Import new students

  • Remove students who have left

  • Update student names

  • Update classes

  • Update teacher information

  • Realign class memberships

This is particularly useful at the start of a new academic year or after significant changes have been made within your MIS.


How do I refresh my student list?

To refresh your student directory:

  1. Navigate to Import

  2. Select API

  3. Select Refresh Students from Wonde/Arbor

  4. Review the confirmation message

  5. Click Confirm

Once complete, your student directory will reflect the current information held within your MIS.


How do I delete and reimport all students?

If you need to completely rebuild your student directory:

Delete existing students

  1. Navigate to Directory → Students

  2. Click the three dots

  3. Select Select All

  4. Click Delete All

Reimport students

  1. Navigate to Import

  2. Select API

  3. Select your MIS (Wonde/Arbor)

  4. Select the required students

  5. Click Import

This should only be used where a full rebuild of the student directory is required.


Editing Imported Records

Can I edit imported students or employees within Custr?

If a student or employee is synchronised from your MIS, changes should always be made within the MIS.

For example:

  • Name changes

  • Class changes

  • Teacher changes

  • Employment changes

Once updated in your MIS, the changes will synchronise with Custr during the next overnight synchronisation or after a manual import.

Making these changes directly within Custr may result in them being overwritten during the next synchronisation.
