Overview

If the Custr iPad app is freezing, crashing, or not responding correctly, this is usually caused by:

  • Temporary device issues

  • App version or performance problems

  • Connection or pairing issues

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

1. Restart the App

Temporary glitches can often be resolved by restarting the app.

On your iPad:

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-press the Home button)

  • Find the Custr app

  • Swipe it away to close

  • Reopen the app

2. Restart the iPad

If the issue continues:

  • Turn the iPad off

  • Wait a few seconds

  • Turn it back on

This clears temporary system issues.

3. Check for App Updates

Ensure you are running the latest version of the Custr app.

  1. Open the App Store

  2. Search for Custr

  3. Select the app

  4. Tap Update (if available)

Keeping the app updated ensures optimal performance

4. Check Internet Connection

  • Ensure the iPad is connected to Wi-Fi

  • Try opening a webpage to confirm connectivity

Unstable connections can cause the app to freeze or fail to sync.

5. Reconnect the Device (Pairing Issues)

If the app appears disconnected or not updating:

  1. Go to Configuration → Devices on your dashboard

  2. Click Add a New Device

  3. Enter the new 6-digit code on the iPad

This will re-link the device to your site

6. Reinstall the App

If the app continues to crash or freeze:

  • Delete the Custr app from the iPad

  • Reinstall it from the App Store

  • Reconnect using a new device code

7. Use Guided Access (Recommended)

For fixed check-in devices, we recommend enabling Guided Access.

This helps:

  • Prevent users from exiting the app

  • Improve overall stability

  • Reduce accidental disruptions

8. Check Device Performance

Older devices or heavily used iPads may experience performance issues.

Check:

  • Available storage space

  • Background apps running

  • iOS version (should be up to date or within supported range)

9. Still Having Issues?

If the issue continues after completing the steps above:

Please include:

  • Your site name

  • Device model and iOS version

  • Description of the issue (freezing, crashing, pairing, etc.)

Important Notes

  • Most issues are temporary and resolved by restarting the app or device

  • Pairing issues can usually be fixed by reconnecting the device

  • Keeping your app and iPad updated is key to stable performance
