Enabling Guided Access on an iPad

Learn how to enable Guided Access on your iPad to lock the device to the Custr Check-In app.

Overview

Guided Access is an iPad feature that locks the device to a single app and controls which features are available.

This is commonly used with Custr Check-In to prevent visitors from exiting the app or accessing other areas of the device.

Once enabled, a passcode is required to exit the app.


How to Enable Guided Access

To enable Guided Access on your iPad:

  1. Open Settings

  2. Go to Accessibility

  3. Scroll down and select Guided Access

  4. Toggle Guided Access to On

  5. (Optional) Set a passcode


Start Guided Access (Lock the App)

To lock your iPad to the Custr app:

  1. Open the Custr Check-In app

  2. Triple-click:

    • Home Button (older devices), or

    • Top Button (newer devices)

  3. Tap Start

Your iPad is now locked to the Custr app.


How to Exit Guided Access

To exit Guided Access:

  1. Triple-click the Home Button or Top Button

  2. Enter your Guided Access passcode

  3. Tap End


Important Notes

  • You will need the passcode to exit Guided Access

  • We recommend storing this passcode in a secure location

  • If the passcode is lost, the device may need to be factory reset

  • Guided Access helps ensure visitors cannot access other apps or settings
