Learn about how to add, delete and edit shifts in the Staff Rota

Overview

This article explains the Staff Rota feature on Custr, which allows you to easily create rotas for your staff. You can generate daily and weekly rotas, copy rotas from one week to another, assign the same shift patterns to multiple employees, and more.


How to add a Shift

To add a shift for a staff member, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Directory > Staff Rota

  2. Click on the date next to the employee's name for whom you want to add a shift

  3. Enter the shift details

  4. Choose the days you would like to copy the shift to

  5. If needed, set the shift as 'repeating' to show on the same day in the future

  6. Click Add Shift


How to Edit a Shift

To edit a shift, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Directory > Staff Rota

  2. Click on the shift you wish to edit

  3. Make the necessary changes

  4. Click Edit Shift


How to Copy a Week Shift

To copy shifts to multiple weeks, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Staff Rota

  2. Click Actions in the top right corner

  3. Select Copy Week

  4. Click the arrow on the calendar to move to the next week

  5. Click Actions

  6. Select Paste Week


Copying Employee Shifts to Other Employees

This feature is particularly useful if you have two employees with the same shift and want to quickly duplicate their schedule. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Staff Rota

  2. Click on the employee's schedule you would like to copy

  3. Click Copy

  4. Enter the name of the employee you want to copy the shift to

  5. Finally, click Copy


How to Clear a Week Shift for an Individual Employee

To clear a week's shift for an employee, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Staff Rota

  2. Click the arrow next to the name of the employee whose shifts you would like to delete

  3. Click Delete all shifts for this week


How to Clear Weekly Shifts for all Employees

To clear weekly shifts for all employees, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Staff Rota

  2. Click Actions in the top right corner

  3. Click Clear Week


Staff Absences

When you create a shift for an employee and they check in late or not at all, their name will appear in red.


How to Delete a Staff Member's Absence

To remove a staff member’s absence for the week, follow the steps below:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Staff Rota

  2. Click the arrow next to the name of the employee whose absence you want to remove

  3. Click Delete all absences
