Overview
MIS Integration keeps your student and employee records synchronised with Custr, helping to reduce manual administration and maintain a single source of truth for your school data.
By connecting Custr to your school’s Management Information System (MIS), student and employee information can be imported automatically, allowing you to manage attendance and visitor workflows without manually maintaining duplicate records.
Where supported by your MIS, Custr can also write attendance events back to your MIS, ensuring late arrivals and early leavers remain synchronised.
MIS Integration is an optional add-on available exclusively with the Education Edition.
How MIS Integration Works
Once connected, Custr securely communicates with your MIS using either:
A direct integration with Arbor
A secure integration via Wonde for all other supported MIS providers
The integration automatically imports information from your MIS into Custr, helping keep your employee and student directories up to date.
Where supported, attendance events are also written back to your MIS.
What Information Is Imported?
Depending on your MIS provider, Custr can import information including:
Students
First name
Surname
Class information
Teacher information
Parent information
Employees
Employee records
Contact information
Additional Information
Classes
Attendance reasons
This allows Custr to use your existing MIS data without requiring duplicate records to be maintained.
Custr automatically synchronises with your MIS overnight to help keep your records up to date.
During each synchronisation, Custr will:
Import new students and employees
Update existing student and employee records
Synchronise changes such as names, classes, teachers and other supported information
If you need to update your data immediately, you can manually start a synchronisation at any time from the Import section of the Dashboard.
Changes made in your MIS may not appear in Custr until the next synchronisation, unless a manual synchronisation is performed.
At the start of a new academic year, schools should perform a refresh of their student data to ensure classes and year groups are updated correctly and previous students are removed.
Attendance Writeback
Where supported by your MIS, Custr can automatically write the following attendance events back into your MIS:
Late Arrivals
Early Leavers
Attendance writeback helps ensure attendance recorded within Custr is reflected within your school’s MIS.
Please note:
Before & After School attendance is managed within Custr only.
Sixth Form attendance is managed within Custr only.
Attendance writeback is only available for supported MIS providers.
What Happens if My MIS or iPad Is Offline?
Student attendance continues to work even if your MIS or an iPad is temporarily unavailable.
Attendance events are stored within Custr and uploaded to the Dashboard once the iPad reconnects.
Where attendance writeback is supported, Custr will attempt to send attendance information back to your MIS once connectivity has been restored.
Important: Attendance writeback is only available for attendance recorded on the current day.
If an iPad reconnects on a later day, the attendance event will remain available within Custr but will not be written back to your MIS.

If your MIS provider is not listed above, please contact our Support team to confirm compatibility.
Using Student Attendance Without MIS
MIS Integration is not required to use Custr’s student attendance features.
Schools can still use:
Late Arrivals
Early Leavers
Before & After School
Sixth Form attendance
without connecting to an MIS.
The difference is that attendance will be managed within Custr only and will not be automatically written back to your school’s MIS.
