Overview
The Sixth Form Students feature is designed for students who regularly leave and return to site throughout the school day.
Unlike standard student attendance, which records Late Arrivals and Early Leavers, Sixth Form students can freely check in and out multiple times during the day, providing staff with a live view of who is currently on or off site.
Sixth Form attendance is managed entirely within Custr and is included with your existing Education licence at no additional cost.

Ways Sixth Form Students Can Check In
Sixth Form students can check in and out using three different methods.
Method | Description |
Name Search | Search for their name on the iPad |
RFID | Present an RFID card or fob to the RFID reader |
QR Code | Present their personal QR code to the iPad camera |
Whichever method is used, Custr automatically detects whether the student is currently on or off site and presents the appropriate Check In or Check Out option.
Students can check in and out as many times as required throughout the day.
RFID & QR Codes
Sixth Form students can be issued both RFID credentials and QR codes.
RFID
Students can have multiple RFID cards or fobs assigned to their record.
To assign an RFID card:
Present a new RFID card to the reader
Search for the student
Confirm the assignment by presenting the RFID card again
Once assigned, the student can simply tap their RFID card to check in or out.
QR Codes
Every Sixth Form student is automatically assigned a unique QR code.
QR codes can be:
Downloaded
Printed
Stored on a mobile phone
Students simply present the QR code to the iPad camera to check in or out.
Each student has one unique QR code.
Attendance Workflow
Throughout the day, students can freely move between being on and off site.
A typical day might look like this:
Check In
↓
Attend lessons
↓
Check Out
↓
Return to site
↓
Check In
↓
Leave again
↓
Check Out
Custr automatically records each attendance event, allowing staff to see who is currently on site at any time.
Automatic End of Day Check-Out
If a student forgets to check out before the end of the school day, Custr can automatically check them out using your configured site end time.
This ensures students are ready for the following day without requiring manual intervention.
Attendance & Reporting
Current attendance can be viewed from:
Dashboard
Evacuation View
Staff can also generate reports showing:
Check-in times
Check-out times
Total time spent on site
Attendance history
This provides a complete record of Sixth Form attendance throughout the day.
Evacuation View
Sixth Form students appear alongside other onsite users within the Evacuation View.
Students are displayed as either:
Checked In (On Site)
Checked Out (Off Site)
This provides staff with an accurate live view of who is currently on site during an evacuation.
